YOUR EMAIL SIGNATURE MATTERS

Branding matters and that should carry over to your email signature as well.

These days, a lot of entrepreneurs are running their businesses from their phones but the standard Sent from iPhone signature is, I’ll say it, unprofessional. If you want to make a good impression with both current and potential customers, your email signature needs to match your brand. Aesthetics and consistency matter!

You can also put your email signature to work. This is a great location to put links to customer’s most common needs or a call to action that you want the client to complete.

EMAIL SIGNATURE EXAMPLE

My days are planned in advance for maximum productivity so I don’t take calls unless they are scheduled. Therefore, my email signature includes the “Schedule a Call” option.

I also rotate out the bottom link to whatever Etsy product might be helpful for this season of business.

Here are some things you could include in your email signature:

• Headshot or Logo

• Name

• Title

• Company

• Contact Info

• Website

• Social Media

• Call to Action

• Disclaimer: May be required for your field of work.

I don’t recommend putting all of this information in your email signature. That would feel cluttered and overwhelming to the client. I do recommend including 4-6 of these items for a comprehensive signature.

CLIENT EXAMPLE

Here’s an example of an email signature I recently completed for a client.

This is a Food Truck where the goal was to make it easy for clients to contact them to book events and view their menu. By including the social media link, they can also see photos of the food items.

Mobile Email Signature

Once you’ve created an email signature, you can also replace that pesky “Sent from iPhone” message that occurs on your mobile device.

Here are the steps to update your mobile email signature.

1. Send yourself an email with your new signature.

2. From your phone, select and copy the entire email signature. 

3. Go to Settings> Mail> Signature

4. Delete current text.

5. Hold then click paste. 

6. Save

7. Send yourself a test email.
